ARCHBISHOP’S SWISS VISIT MARKS REFORMATION 500 YEARS AGO

Members of the Swiss Archdeaconry were delighted to welcome the Archbishop of Canterbury on his brief but busy two-day visit. His first visit was for a national celebration in Berne Munster organised by the Swiss Reformed Church to mark 500 years of the Reformation.

His next stop was Fribourg for a reception with the Ecumenical Department of the University where next day he was keynote speaker at a seminar "Come, Holy Spirit". His message was one of encouragement to prayer, reconciliation and community under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Archbishop Justin said “Amid the atrocities and disasters of the previous few weeks, and indeed that very morning, we have seen the “Spirit inspired” response of local churches working together to offer help and relief as a real sign of hope.
