AL FRESCO - NEW IDEAS ON FACING THE FUTURE

As the warm weather continued in Cologne during this week’s Diocesan Synod members have been enjoying meals on the terrace of the Kardinal Schulte Conference Centre.

The Al Fresco theme continued in the formal synod sessions with a fresh approach to the Environment and a new form of ministerial development.

Our Environment Officer, Rev Elizabeth Bussman (below left), offered a challenging presentation about her work, during which she revealed that a church in the Gibraltar Archdeaconry has been shortlisted as a finalist for a Church Times Environmental award this Summer. She also urged the Synod to timetable a full debate on our environment policy in next year's sessions.

Canon Ulla Monberg (below right) then introduced a detailed look at the Interim Ministry scheme where there has been a huge amount of interest from clergy interested in leading short term ministry in chaplaincies with special needs. The diocese is pioneering a training course for Interim Ministers this Autumn and 7 people have been selected to learn the skills and background needed.
