SNAPSHOTS FROM A WEEK OF PRAYER FOR UNITY

As churches all over the diocese marked the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity some of the services and events reflected a novel approach to getting the message over.

On Spain’s Costa Azahar, north of Valencia, Anglicans braved unseasonal snow and flooding to share in a service in the Spanish, English and Catalan languages. Participants from different denominations built a wall with visual aid building blocks. Each obstacle to unity was marked with such as “Abuse of power”  “division” “intolerance” “discrimination” and “false accusations.

During the prayers for reconciliation the blocks were moved as the wall came down to be reshaped into the form of a cross.

Further north in the diocese, members of St Alban’s, Copenhagen went on a walk of witness, calling at various different churches en route before the walk (nown as the kirkevandring) ended at the Swedish Lutheran Church with the Bishop of Copenhagen preaching
