The countdown to next month’s Readers Conference in Cologne is now well advanced. The conference planning committee has been meeting to ensure thought provoking and scholarly teaching, sharing and fellowship at the event, only the second one of its kind in our diocese (The last one was 5 years ago). Bishop David chairs the planning meeting, pictured above.
Visiting speakers will include Bible Study with Father Nicholas King. Rev Kathy Galloway from the Iona Community will talk on spirituality in ministry. Professor David Wilkinson Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Durham will speak on Science and Religion and Stefan McNally from the London Institute of Contemporary Christianity will be adding some sociological trend information.
As with all diocesan conferences worship will be central to the programme. At the last Readers’ diocesan event participants found the great value of sharing experiences in a diocese where there are long distances between churches and much of our ministry is in isolated situations.
More than 60 of the 110 licensed Readers in the diocese will be attending the conference between 19 and 22 May.
