CHORAL POWER IN LAUSANNE FOR ANNUAL SWISS FESTIVAL

The traditional annual Swiss Archdeaconry Choir Festival was held in at Christ Church in Lausanne over the weekend of 6/7 May 2017. The joint choir of 40 singers from the chaplaincies in Basel, Berne, Geneva, Lausanne and Zürich led the choral Evensong on Saturday and the choral Communion Service on Sunday Morning.

The music was led by Robert King (Director of ‘The King’s Consort’), supported by Mark Jones (former Director of Music at Gresham’s School) at the organ. The music this year was all taken from the ‘romantic’ period and included works by George Dyson, Philip Radcliffe, Peter Nardone, Edgar Bainton, Herbert Howells, Edward Bairstow and, of course, Charles Villiers Stanford. We were fortunate to be able to repeat the Evensong service in Lausanne Cathedral on Sunday Evening with some elements in the French language.
