BLESSINGS FROM A MALAGA ECUMENICAL PROJECT

Rev Jennifer Elliot de Riverol from All Saints, Tenerife, has spoken about the blessing experienced on the Spanish mainland through an Ecumencial Project with the Roman Catholic Seminary of Málaga - and most of it happened thanks to the internet. It all stemmed from a friendship with Francisco Arrocha who is an ordinand there and who participated in the confirmation service in La Palma, which Bishop David conducted in 2016. Francisco is from La Palma and was contacted by Jennifer through her work as chaplain at the General Hospital, where she also enjoys positive communications with my Catholic colleague priests

Jennifer says; “This bi-lingual project has consisted in studying the 1998 Lambeth Conference Section IV "Called To Be One" and Ut Unum Sint Duodécimo Carta Encíclica de S.S. Juan Pablo II and other documents to consider the Roman Catholic and Anglican view on ecumenical relations; the importance of prayer and a right attitude. Our work culminated with a video conference (Skype) between me and the Seminary, which took place on May 19th 2017 and I was invited to also share my vision as a female priest in the 21st century and I answered a series of questions. For some of the participants, this was the first time that they had spoken to an Anglican priest. The photographs include the tutor Don Rafael, Francisco Arrocha, Quique, Juan, Eloy, Manuel and Carlos. We hope to continue our work with further meetings. It has been a great privilege to have participated.”
