New Deacons and Priests in Summer ordinations

Three new Deacons are to be ordained in ceremonies in Rome and Lisbon at the start of July.

In All Saints Rome, Bishop David will ordain Mrs Dana English and Dr Mary Styles (both of whom will serve as Assistant Curates of that church). The preacher will be the Very Revd Canon David Richardson, Director of the Anglican Centre in Rome.

Also on Sunday 1 July Ms Verna Veritie will be made a Deacon byBishopGeoffrey in St George’s, Lisbon.  The preacher will be the Revd Canon Malcolm Bradshaw from St Paul’s, Athens where Verna will serve as Assistant Curate.

The previous day, Saturday 30 June, The Revd Jennifer Elliott de Riverol (Assistant Curate of All Saints Tenerife with St Martin de Porres, La Palma) will be priested by the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Episcopal Commissary in Norwich Cathedral.

The Revd Nigel Thomas (Assistant Curate of St George’s, Madrid) will be ordained Priest byBishopGeoffrey on Saturday 30 June in Madrid when the preacher will be the RevdStephen Ferns.

Bishop David, announcing these events, invites Clergy and Readers to robe and join in procession. Priests of the Church of England or of a Church in communion are invited to join in the laying on of hands at the ordination of priests.

He adds, “Please announce these ordinations in your churches so that the candidates can be upheld in the prayers of the members of our congregations as they make their final preparations towards ordination as deacon or priest.”
