New Adviser for Women's Ministry

The Reverend Hilary Jones is to be Bishop’s Adviser for Women’s Ministry in the Diocese in Europe succession to the Reverend Adele Kelham.

Hilary was made a deacon in 1999 and ordained priest the following year. Until last year her ministry has been in the Diocese of Canterbury (perhaps significantly for the Diocese in Europe as Rector of Cheriton where the Channel Tunnel begins).

From 2004 to 2011, she served as Bishop’s Adviser for Women’s Ministry in the Diocese of Canterbury and thus brings considerable and appropriate experience to her new appointment in the Diocese in Europe. She was also Area Dean of Elham from 2008 until 2011. Last year, Hilary moved to the Diocese in Europe following the relocation of her husband’s work to Basel.

Bishop Geoffrey says "I’m delighted to announce the appointment and am very grateful to Hilary for taking on these new responsibilities. She will have Permission to Officiate throughout the Diocese and although this appointment is immediate, it has been difficult to find a Diocesan occasion at which Hilary can be formally commissioned but it has now been agreed that this will happen at the Annual Friends’ Service at St Matthew’s, Westminster in October."
