Whit Sunday was marked with two practical expressions of the Day of Pentecost by the congregation in Stuttgart, Germany.
Fr Ken Dimmick baptised little Emilie and reminded her family and friends that it was a traditional day for baptisms. Like Emilie the candidates wore white – hence the name Whie Sunday or Whitsun! Fr Ken wore the traditional red robes which symbolise the fire of Pentecost.
During the service the Gospel was proclaimed in 15 different languages including French, Latin, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Russian, Singhalese, Uriba, Arabic, Esperanto, Hebrew, and Ghanaian. Hearing the Good News proclaimed in such diversity was another reminder of the variety of tongues and languages at Pentecost.
