Diocese in Europe

Prayers for those to be ordained Deacon or Priest

From the Bishops Chaplin

Days of prayer for those who serve in the ordained ministry of the Church - so-called Ember Days - are provided in the Church of England's general calendar at traditional points in the year. However, such days of prayer ought specifically to be kept in each diocese in the week before ordinations to the diaconate or priesthood. The Bishop therefore encourages all the clergy and people of the Diocese to join him in prayer on the following days:

WEDNESDAY 15 and FRIDAY 17 MAY
for the Ordination of the Revd JAMES TAYLER (deacon, Asst curate, Malaga) to the Priesthood in Diocesan Seminary, Malaga (by kind permission of the Bishop of Malaga and the Rector of the Seminary) on 18 May by the Diocesan Bishop.

WEDNESDAY 22 and FRIDAY 24 MAY
for the Ordination of the Revd ISAAC MENSAH (deacon, Asst curate, Brussels) to the Priesthood in Brussels on 26 May by the Suffragan Bishop.

WEDNESDAY 12 and FRIDAY 14 JUNE
for the Ordination of SAM van LEER, CAROLINE GORDON-WALKER, WAYNE BURKE to the Diaconate (to serve in Berne, Poitou Charentes and Athens respectively), and the Revd PETER PARRY (deacon, Asst curate, Montreux) to the Priesthood, in Old Catholic Church of St Peter and St Paul, Berne (by kind permission of the Old Catholic Bishop of Switzerland and the Rector of the parish) on 15 June by the Diocesan Bishop.

WEDNESDAY 19 and FRIDAY 21 JUNE
for the Ordination of the Revd HOWIE ADAN (deacon, Asst curate, Amsterdam) to the Priesthood in Amsterdam on 22 June by the Diocesan Bishop.

WEDNESDAY 26 and FRIDAY 28 JUNE
for the Ordination of the Revd AILEEN HACKL (deacon, Asst curate, Vienna) and The Revd ERICA ANDERS (deacon, Asst curate, Hamburg) to the Priesthood in Canterbury on 29 June by His Grace The Archbishop of Canterbury. (This provision can be found in the Diocesan Handbook C9(j), p.57.)

The Bishop hopes that in this way not only the clergy but the whole Diocese will be united in prayer for those who are being ordained to the sacred ministry of God's Church
