Archbishop's new Chaplain and Ecumenical Officer
Dear Friends
I write to draw your attention to the following announcement
below, which has been posted on the Lambeth Palace web-site.
In his time as Chaplain and Research Assistant, first for
Bishop John Hind and then for me, Fr Jonathan Goodall has been
an outstanding servant of the Diocese and of great assistance in
many ways, both in the administration of my office, and in the
liturgical expertise which has enhanced our worship on so many
occasions. As a priest who has served the diocese through a
change of bishop, a suffragan bishop, and several archdeacons,
he has been in many ways the memory of the Diocese, for which I
am personally very grateful. We shall miss that memory and his
many other skills, and we wish Jonathan, Sarah, Thomas and
AnnaMary well, and hold them in our prayers as they move to
Lambeth Palace where Fr Jonathan will serve our Archbishop in
the dual role of chaplain and ecumenical officer.
As part of the planning committee, Fr Jonathan hopes to be
with us for the Pastoral Conference. There will be an
opportunity later in the year to say a more formal thank you and
farewell.

Archbishop's new Chaplain and Ecumenical Officer
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has
appointed the Reverend Jonathan Goodall as his Chaplain and
Ecumenical Officer. He will succeed the current Archbishop's
Chaplain, the Revd Canon Dr David Marshall, who will be moving
on in August after five years in the post.
Mr Goodall, who is 44, was ordained in 1989. He served as
curate in the Bicester Team Ministry in the diocese of Oxford.
In 1992 he was appointed as Minor Canon, Chaplain and Sacrist at
Westminster Abbey before moving to his present post as Chaplain
and Research Assistant to the Bishop of the Church of England
Diocese in Europe in 1998.
Mr Goodall is married to Sarah and they have two children,
Thomas and AnnaMary.
He said, "I am delighted to have been appointed by the
Archbishop to this new task. It is a wonderful opportunity to
serve the Church both by supporting the personal ministry of the
Archbishop, and assisting him in carrying forward the ecumenical
achievements of the last half century." |
