Diocese in Europe inaugurates new MU Chapter
The Mothers’ Union has formally recognized a new Chapter (including
5 existing branches) and the Bishop in Europe has commissioned Mrs Barbara
Woods as Diocesan President. The ceremony during the 4 day Diocesan Synod
in Cologne last week (May 28 – 31st) was attended by Reg Bailey, Chief
Executive of the MU.
Mrs Woods, wife of the Dean of Gibraltar, has been involved in Mothers’ Union work and a member of the Executive Committee for many years. She welcomed the formal inauguration of branches in Europe. Presently they are in Malta and Gozo, Padua (Italy) Hamburg (Germany) Poitou Charente (France) and Lanzarote.
She added; “”we do have many members who have moved to live in European
countries who are in a remote area or whose chaplaincy does
not yet have a branch. I am hoping people will get in touch
with me so that we can explore the possibility of further branches being
formed.”
