BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY IN THE DIOCESE IN EUROPE

This year Back to Church Sunday is 27 September.

This is a growing initiative in the Church of England and beyond. The programme is not complicated; it is based on the simple invitation to a friend, neighbour or contact: “Would you like to come to Church with me?”

Bishop David is grateful to Mr Adrian Wilkinson, a congregational warden in St George’s Málaga and a member of the synod of the Archdeaconry of Gibraltar, who has taken the initiative of facilitating our diocese’s engagement with Back to Church Sunday. Adrian has set up a weblog with helpful links as well as news about our churches across Europe and their involvement: http://www.backtochurcheurope.blogspot.com.

Back to Church Sunday has already been given a particular boost in the Archdeaconry of France this year as Michael Harvey, one of the founders of the movement, addressed the synod at their recent meeting in St Jacut, Brittany, from 6 – 8 May. His winning presentation was well received by the clergy and lay delegates.

I encourage the churches of our diocese to get involved in Back to Church Sunday. Resources, links, news and stories can be found at http://www.backtochurcheurope.blogspot.com. You can email Adrian Wilkinson at backtochurcheurope@gmail.com for more information.
