Holy Cross Palermo welcome Porvoo Communion guest

Holy Cross Palermo hosted Bishop Karin Johannesson of the Church of Sweden last month. The Church of Sweden and the Church of England are both members of the Porvoo Communion, a group of 15 churches across Europe. It was an opportunity to share stories, learn from each other and also to discuss the ongoing immigration crisis.

Advent Appeal money helps those hit by climate change

The first set of funds from the Diocese in Europe's Advent Appeal 2021 has been distributed. The appeal raised more than £15,000 (€18,000). Now, gifts of £3,500 (€4,130) have been given three agencies which are providing humanitarian aid around the Mediterranean and in Central Europe.

Bishop Robert follows his visit to Moscow with a speech to General Synod about Ukraine

Bishop Robert completed a very successful 4-day pastoral visit to Moscow last week and travelled immediately to York for the General Synod.  Informed by his visit, he had the opportunity to address the Synod in the debate on the war in Ukraine.

Bishop Robert visits Moscow chaplaincy

Bishop Robert has travelled to Moscow for a short pastoral trip. While in the Russian capital he and his wife Helen will spend time with the chaplain to St Andrew’s, Revd Canon Malcolm Rogers and his wife Alison, and present St Andrew’s with a gift – a chalice from Lichfield diocese.

Moscow Chaplain Condemns Sanctions Against Russian Patriarch

The chaplain of St Andrew’s, Moscow, Revd Canon Malcolm Rogers, has criticised the UK government’s decision to impose sanctions on the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, for what it called his support of Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine.
