Tributes are being paid to the Rt Rev Michael Manktelow, a former Bishop of Basingstoke and Honorary Assistant Bishop in the Diocese in Europe who died on Monday 24 July in Chichester.

DR ROWAN WILLIAMS TRIBUTE TO A BISHOP WITH “NATURAL PITCH”

On Wednesday 5 July, 2017 the Bishop of Chichester Martin Warner presided over the funeral of The Right Reverend Dr Douglas Geoffrey Rowell, former Bishop of the Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe at Chichester Cathedral.
The former Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams attended along with senior church representatives from Turkey and the Middle East.

ARCHBISHOP’S SWISS VISIT MARKS REFORMATION 500 YEARS AGO

Members of the Swiss Archdeaconry were delighted to welcome the Archbishop of Canterbury on his brief but busy two-day visit. His first visit was for a national celebration in Berne Munster organised by the Swiss Reformed Church to mark 500 years of the Reformation.

FUNERAL DETAILS AND MEMORIES OF BISHOP GEOFFREY

It has been announced that Bishop Geoffrey’s funeral is to be at 14:30 on Wednesday 5th July at Chichester Cathedral. Further details will be available on the cathedral website.   As tributes continue to the former Bishop in Europe two have come from his former Chaplains.
