REFLECTIONS ON A DEBATE AND VOTE IN GENERAL SYNOD

After a lengthy debate in General Synod about Marriage and Same-sex relationships with a “take note” motion which was passed by an overall majority among Bishops, Clergy and Laity. However, it was lost in the House of Clergy. The Rev'd Tuomas Mäkipää, a Member of the General Synod who is also Chair of the House of Clergy in the Diocese in Europe, has written to fellow clergy to reflect on the debate and its outcome.

Churches around the diocese are responding well to the challenge of taking safeguarding seriously" according to Charles Clark, who chairs the diocesan Safeguarding committee. Speaking to a meeting of Bishop's Council, clergy and lay members were told that there is a rapidly rising number of church members undergoing the new training courses.

Archbishop Challenges Synod On Migration
