MORE REMEMBRANCE REPORTS FROM ANTWERP AND OSLO

The British Ambassador Alison Rose, and Burgemeester of Antwerpen Bart De Wever, joined the congregation at St Boniface’s Antwerp for their Remembrance Service on Sunday 13th November 2016 (pictured above).

Further north in the diocese, in the snow covered Commonwealth war Graves in Oslo, after a Remembrance Sunday service in St Edmunds, Senior Chaplain, Ven. Dr Brian Russell was joined by the British Ambassador to Norway, Sarah Gillett CMG CVO, read the poem "We Will Remember Them" before she laid the first wreath, followed by Representatives from the Commonwealth, Ireland and the Norwegian Armed Forces. Gunnar Foseid adds; “I have spent the last 5 years researching the Operation Doomsday tragedy on 10th May 1945, were 48 airmen and soldiers perished en route to Gardermoen airfield. 43 of the 48 men are buried at Vestre gravlund. I believe the Norwegian liaison Major Peter Kato Juliebø is buried in Ålesund.  Together with a team, both in Norway and UK, we managed to find over 100 relatives to the 48 perished men in UK, Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand.”
