The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has been at St Albans Church in Copenhagen this week during his visit as part of our shared ministry in the Porvoo Communion.

The church in the Danish capital was asked to host a Choral Evensong on Friday 13 October. Pauleen Bang writes; “The service was led, appropriately, by the Lutheran priest who is helping us out at the start of our interregnum, Revd Palle Thordal, and by our Licensed Lay Reader, Victoria Wadsworth-Hansen (pictured below). Our Archbishop was joined by archbishops and bishops from all over Northern Europe, including Peter Skov-Jakobsen, Bishop of Copenhagen. Our diocese was formally represented by Revd Tuomas Mäkipää, Chaplain in Helsinki and Area Dean.

“It was such a joyful occasion, with Victoria acting as cantor and singing beautifully. The prayers were led by Deacon Christophe (from Burundi) and the choir sang a lovely anthem. Archbishop Justin was photographed afterwards with all those involved in the service and then came back into church to talk to members of the congregation."
