Bishop Looks Back And Forward

At the opening session of the Diocesan Synod Bishop Geoffrey reviewed his twelve years as Diocesan Bishop and highlighted many of the acheivements and much progress and development in the mission and ministry across Europe.

New Synod members were welcomed, together with guests and visitors to the four day event in Cologne, Germany. Diocesan Secretary Adrian Mumford, pictured above with the Bishop outlined the duties of Synod members and their status as Trustees of the diocese. In separate meetings afterwards The Venerable Patrick Curran was elected as Chair of the House of Clergy and Celia Paterson to Chair the House of Laity.

Synod continues on Tuesday 4 June with reports on progress within the Diocese. There will be a briefing about the appointment of the next Bishop after Bishop Geoffrey retires in November, and the work of the Ministry Team will be reported.
