Synod Ends With Finance And Farewells

The final afternoon of Diocesan Synod in Cologne included a meeting of the Board of Finance, involving all Synod members.

Formal farewells were made to Margaret Gibson and Sue Walshe who are leaving the diocese to take up new posts as a result of the closure of the Bishop's Office in Worth, West Sussex. Bishop David paid tribute to their professionalism and dedicated service. (pictured above)

Synod members were given an update on resources and events planned and available for the commemoration of World War One on its centenary this year.

A short report covered Environment news from Environment Officer Madeleine Holmes.

The final formal session ended with questions including one about the relocation of the diocesan bishop's house. Synod members noted with concern that there had been "no consultation on the location of the See House with the Diocesan Authorities."

Bishop David formally closed proceedings with a blessing.
