A Bird In The Hand With A Waterloo Message Of Peace

As part of the 200 years commemoration of the Battle of Waterloo an ecumenical service of prayer drew a large crowd at the main Roman Catholic church in the Belgian town of Waterloo in late June.

All the leaders of the main churches in Belgium were present, and Bishop Robert was invited to introduce the service and give the final blessing, which took place after the release of white doves – symbols of peace. The sermon was in four parts, one of which was assigned to the Anglicans, and given by Canon Meurig Williams.
