Diocesan Spirituality Advisor
Sister Julian
I am an Anglican Benedictine Single Consecrated Sister. My religious name is inspired by Mother Julian of Norwich, a 14th-century English Mystic from Norwich who gave spiritual direction and wrote down her experiences of divine revelations. I get excited by the fact that God loves all his Creation.
Prayer, passing on and accompanying is my role in the Diocese in Europe to nourish and raise awareness of the rich spiritual tradition within our Christian Traditions and encourage people to draw from it … inspiring a spark of spirituality and faith in all our lives. The Diocese in Europe can be a resource and stretch out towards others who do not know or have not been able to know, the wisdom that comes from Christian sources. If we let our faith flourish, we can dance joyfully to infinity.
This role of Spirituality Advisor is important because I think, we may all seem to be going in the same direction, but when we get to the crossroads of our lives the importance of a deeper understanding of our faith becomes paramount ... Some emphasise the familiar values that brought us to this point, others experience new encounters and conversion experiences. Whether we are Cradle Christian, we are converts or we are seekers, we need guidance from role models, testimonies, spaces of prayer and silence, preaching, teaching and community.
The breaking news is that our Christian traditions – including all four main streams Anglican, Roman Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox - offer a wealth of spiritual resources for today.
