BBC radio services from the Diocese in Europe
We are thrilled that BBC Radio 4 have created a series of services from across the Diocese in Europe which will be broadcast from Monday 18 September through to the Sunday service on Sunday 24 September, including a reflection from Christ Church, Kyiv.
The services share stories, music and reflections from across our diocese visiting chaplaincies from Corfu and Malaga to Oslo and Helsinki. Our chaplains and congregations share what it means to be both guest and host as the Church of England in Europe and show the vibrancy and diversity of our ministry. These services regularly reach millions of listeners.
The concluding Sunday Service will be broadcast on Sunday 24 September 24th on BBC Radio 4 scheduled for at 08.10 BST, which covers the many reflections and stories from Malaga to Oslo. BBC Radio 4 FM - Schedules, Sunday 24 September 2023

Revd Tuomas Makipaa, chaplain in Helsinki said: “It was great fun to be involved, and a good opportunity for to us to phrase what we do and teach. People were excited about this project and were glad to participate. I think this has helped us locally, too. It showed that there's a wider interest in what we do.”
The Sunday service, which will be broadcast on Sunday 24 September on BBC Radio 4 scheduled for at 8.10am BST, is set in Oslo. Revd Joanna Udal said “BBC Radio offers a great channel for worship. We much enjoyed recording prayers, readings and interviews in St Edmund's Church in Oslo. We had a fine gathering of representatives taking part from around the Anglican Chaplaincy in Norway and there was great enthusiasm to return to the church after coffee-time to record the hymns and the pieces with the St Edmund's choir. I think everyone would be very happy to do it all over again!”
Andrew Earis, the producer of the shows, has thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our diocese “It’s been very enjoyable to visit churches through the Diocese in Europe and tell the story of the amazing range of ministry that taking place. I hope the programmes will show the extraordinary range of mission taking place from Oslo and Helsinki, to Lisbon and Kyiv.”
Please do listen to the services either live or afterwards through BBC Sounds, and share this good news.
