Canon Bernard Geoffrey Moore (Geoff) 27.05.1927 to 08.01.2024
Geoff retired in 1992 from the parish of Charnock Richard, Lancashire, after 40 years of service in four parishes in the Diocese of Blackburn. With his wife Ann he then provided locum cover to a number of parishes in Europe, having been introduced by the Revd Ken Robinson of St Paul’s, Estoril, where Geoff and Ann spent many happy visits between 1991 and 2003.
Not having had the opportunity to travel abroad due to parish and family commitments they greatly appreciated the opportunity to visit the following parishes:
- St. Nicolas’, Helsinki - September to November 1993
- Holy Trinity, Utrecht - October 1994 to January 1995
- Holy Trinity, Funchal, Madeira - March to April 1998
- St. Mark’s, Florence - September 1998
- The Anglican Church, St Petersburg - March to April 1999
- West Cork, Ireland- 2002 and 2004
- and finally St. George’s, Venice in 2006
Geoff always spoke fondly of his locum work and he and Ann made many friends and visited some wonderful places whilst continuing their witness and service, albeit at a more leisurely pace than previously.
Geoff’s funeral will be held at St. Mary’s, Windermere at 11am on Monday 5th February followed by a family committal at Beetham Crematorium, and it will be streamed live on Facebook should anyone who knew Geoff like to take part in the funeral service.
