Clergy invited to important seminar on Confession
Clergy from across the diocese are being invited to an online seminar on the sacrament of reconciliation – or confession. The seminar, over Zoom, will take place on Wednesday 7 December from 2pm to 5pm CET. It has been organised by the Revd Canon Ulla Monberg, Diocesan Director of Ministerial Development.
“The sacrament of reconciliation, or confession, is an important part of clergy training,’ Revd Canon Monberg explained. “This seminar will explain the sacrament, demonstrate how to use it and the ethical and legal implications involved. And, in preparation, we recommend that participants read Go in Peace by Julia Gatta and Martin L Smith beforehand.”
The seminar will be facilitated by the Revd Richard Seabrook, who has served in the Church of England and the Anglican Church of Australia during his 30 years of ordained ministry. Richard has experience of running Post Ordination Priestly Formation courses in the Church of England and Clergy Formation in the Anglican Church of Australia, including formation in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Richard has been Chaplain of St Peter and St Paul, Torrevieja, Spain since 2015.
If you would like to attend, please register by emailing polly.freeman@churchofengland.org by Wednesday 30 November.
