Church of England Digital Resources:
There are two new resources to tell you about this week that have been launched by the national Church. Content below has been published at the CofE links provided below:
- Daily Hope
Daily Hope offers music, prayers and reflections as well as full worship services from the Church of England at the end of a telephone line.
The line – which is available 24 hours a day on (UK) 0800 804 8044 – has been set up particularly with those unable to join online church services during the period of restrictions in mind.
For more information:
- Choir to sing hymns for digital services
The Church of England has launched arrangements for the Choral Scholars of St Martin-in-the-Fields in London to record hymns and songs each week for use by clergy and church leaders livestreaming Sunday services across the country during the coronavirus pandemic. They will record music individually in their own homes with their contributions edited together to produce hymns and other music for use by churches.
A selection of up to five pieces of music recorded by the 10 members of the choir – who form a training programme for aspiring professional singers - will be made available every Thursday evening through the A Church Near You Resource Hub website, where there will also be details of music that will be available in subsequent weeks.
The music will be chosen, in collaboration with the Royal School of Church Music, to suit the church season and the theme of each Sunday’s readings. The hymns and songs published this week include Great is thy faithfulness, We have a gospel to proclaim and Ye choirs of new Jerusalem.
Clergy and church leaders have been livestreaming services from their homes since the start of the lockdown but have been very limited in their choice of music because of copyright reasons.
The scheme will mean that Church of England churches can download music through ACNY from St Martin’s Choral Scholars rights-free when they hold a CCLI (Christian Copyright Licensing International) licence, with the ‘streaming’ addition.
We're continuing to look in the Diocese at how this great offer for Churches across England can apply similarly to chaplaincies across Europe to support your digital worship.

Zoom Guidance (update)
Diocesan Communications has produced an initial Diocese in Europe Zoom User Guide originally prepared ahead of our virtual service for Maundy Thursday.
We're all learning more about managing Zoom everyday and so this Guide is a living document, which will address everyday use, as well as issues that have been raised. Diocesan Communications will own this Guide with advice that everyone across the Diocese can access and use.
Thank you for comments and suggestions received for content. Here is a link to the updated Guide, which now adds a section covering security guidelines.
