Coronavirus in Russia
The Chaplain at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Moscow, The Revd Canon Malcolm Rogers, has been speaking this week on the impact of Coronavirus in Russia, in an interview broadcast on ITV’s News at Ten programme in the UK.
242,000 cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed in Russia this week. They include the Russian Prime Minister, two Russian Government Ministers, and one of President Putin’s senior aides.
ITV News at Ten covered the impact of the Virus in Russia on its programme, and included an Anglican perspective. Prayers for an end to the spread of COVID-19 were shown in the piece, and it was reported that St. Andrews, Moscow has been helping parishoners suffering severe financial hardship.
ITV news correspondent, Emma Murphy, also spoke to Malcolm, who commented on the impact of Coronavirus in Russia:
"The really big thing is financial. People who are right at the edge have been pushed over the edge and have nothing, and there isn’t the same level of support here for individuals or for small businesses that there is in the UK, so the concern about the economics is overcoming the concern about the health.”
