Mike Fegan, Chair of the Diocesan Board of Finance, steps down after seven years
The Chair of the Diocesan Board of Finance, Mike Fegan, is stepping down after more than seven years with the diocese. Mike came here initially as interim Diocesan Secretary and then became Chair of the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF). He is standing down this Summer after the Diocesan Synod which is held in June. Mike has served the Diocese with distinction and has made a huge contribution to the financial stability of the DBF and to its financial planning. These have been challenging times not least with both COVID and inflation hitting us all hard. His great expertise, authoritative leadership and good humour will be hugely missed.
Mike Fegan said: ‘It has been a great pleasure to serve the Diocese in Europe over the past seven years or so. It has been good to serve with teams of staff and volunteers who show remarkable dedication. Now it is time for me to give time to other things not least my family and to leave the seat for someone new. I am delighted that I leave the Diocese in good heart and with a challenging but stable and sustainable financial plan.’
Bishop Robert said : ‘We are all hugely indebted to Mike for his very hard work and wonderfully clear thinking. All of us in the Diocese benefit and will continue to benefit from his huge expertise and the generous gifts he has given us of his time and attention. We will certainly want to thank Mike appropriately at Diocesan Synod in June when he signs off’.
Andrew Caspari, Diocesan Secretary said : ‘Mike has been an outstanding chair of the DBF. I am hugely grateful for the way he has supported me personally and professionally across all areas of work in the DBF. He has brought great clarity to our financial thinking and planning and has been prepared to tackle difficult issues but with real understanding of the challenges faced by chaplaincies and by the DBF as a whole.’
The process to recruit a new DBF Chair (a voluntary role) is being led by the consultants Green Park.
