Safeguarding Sunday is a helpful and important way of focusing on all the work that goes on 365 days a year in our chaplaincies to make them safe places. 
 
This is an annual awareness raising campaign supported by the Church of England, to help churches across the UK and beyond, share what they are doing to make their places of worship safer for everyone.    
 
It will be an opportunity for chaplaincies to introduce their safeguarding team, acknowledge and thank volunteers and explain why safeguarding is important. It's also a chance to highlight all the good work being done behind the scenes and demonstrate that we are on a journey to best practice, making your church a safer place for all.  
 
Safeguarding Sunday is one part of our on-going commitment to making church safer. 
The theme for this year is "One Church, One Day, One Message - Protecting vulnerable people together."  
 
The event is coordinated jointly by the Church of England National Safeguarding Team, and Thirty-one-Eight a UK based Independent Christian Safeguarding charity, who also provide our out of hours services.   
  
Last year over 2,000 churches registered to take part in the event.  Several resources, including worship material, suggested prayers, scriptures, and hymns, as well as activity sheets for younger members of our congregations, are available via Thirtyone:Eight. 

Whether our chaplaincies can give a few minutes or dedicate their whole service to safeguarding Sunday, let us know what you are up to.  
 
It is an opportunity to show our communities that we take this responsibility seriously.
