Social Media Volunteering
Over the past seven years, our diocese has been very fortunate to have a team of dedicated volunteers to run our Twitter and provide us with a 24/7 profile, weekends, holidays and feast days – truly a 365 days a year service.
“We owe all our volunteers a huge debt of thanks” says Director of Communications, Damian Thwaites. “I believe we are the only diocese in the Church of England that is served by volunteers from across our parishes/chaplaincies raising our social media profile as they have done, at the diocesan level. The team has built up a Twitter account from scratch and it’s going from strength to strength with over 2,000 followers. It is an amazing and impressive achievement” he added.
Changes in the volunteer team this year now give us the challenge of how we continue to run our Twitter account as well as the other social media platforms we have been building up over the past year, on Facebook and Instagram.
Could you help us ...?
Our current team includes volunteers from Fuerteventura to Finland. We’re looking for recruits who can use their skills, experience and enthusiasm, working as part of a team that represents the diversity of our diocese. We have received some interest following our last call in May e-News, and as the new term gets underway, we are looking for more volunteers to help grow our digital presence. Full training, guidance and support will be provided.
