The Church of England has published draft prayers and services of thanksgiving and dedication for same sex couples.
In an open letter to the diocese Bishop David describes today’s announcements about questions of sexuality, relationships and marriage as ‘An historic development in the life of the Church of England’. You can read his letter here.
The draft texts of prayers and services, proposed by the bishops of the Church of England, will be considered by General Synod next month alongside other proposals in response to a six-year process of listening, learning and discernment known as Living in Love and Faith (LLF). The texts are available here.
The bishops have made a direct public apology to LGBTQI+ people for the way in which the Church has rejected or excluded them, admitting: ‘We have not loved you as God loves you, and that is profoundly wrong.’
