Friends of the Diocese Reunion 2024
Around 40 of the Friends of the Diocese once again joined the congregation of Southwark Cathedral for their annual reunion on 21st October at 5:30 pm.
An awe-inspiring temporary installation called ‘Gaia’ greeted the Friends in the Cathedral, a poignant reminder of the interconnectedness of our incredible planet.
The evening of fellowship was a wonderful opportunity to meet in person, pray together and exchange news. Bishop Robert gave the address at the very special Evensong service, as well as leading prayer and in particular bringing the current conflicts across the world to the Lord. The stunning voices of the guest choir from St Paul's church, Covent Garden also filled the cathedral.
Bishop Robert before Evensong
Following the service, the Friends convened in the Garry Weston Library for light refreshments. Mr Mark Pellew CVO, Chairman of the Friends, and Bishop Robert both extended their gratitude to the ongoing commitment of the Friends for their work in supporting the diocese.
The evening was a celebration of friends old and new and in gratitude for our vibrant diocese and the people that make it up.
