Request for prayers following flooding in Spain
We ask for your prayers for the people affected by the awful floods near Valencia. The Ven David Waller, Archdeacon of Gibraltar and Italy & Malta said:
“We see the horrific flooding that has occurred recently in the Valencia area of our Diocese and of the mounting number of deaths that have resulted. So many people’s lives have been shattered by the severe weather that has hit the region and many families and communities have been deeply affected by what has happened. The Church of England has chaplaincy communities in Torrevieja and on the Costa Blanca and along with them we will all be praying for families who have been bereaved, along with the local authorities and their people as they cope with this natural disaster.”
The Revd Louis Darrant, Area Dean for Southern Spain and Gibraltar, said:
"Many of our churches across Spain held services for All Souls this weekend to remember the departed. We can give practical expression to our prayers by support the Age in Spain emergency fund which will ensure the support goes directly to where it is needed. We stand in prayerful solidarity with all who have been affected by this terrible tragedy and give thanks for the resources of those who have responded with great courage and compassion."
