Revd Vivian Sockett joins ecumenical TV panel discussion for Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
To mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Revd Vivian Sockett (Curate, Holy Trinity Church, Maisons Lafitte) took part in an ecumenical panel discussion on French Catholic satellite television (KTO) about the challenges of daily Christian unity. She was part of a panel including a Catholic Bishop, a priest from Benin, an evanglical pastor and an orthodox seminary professor,
Topics covered included same-sex blessings and evangelism as potential sources of tension, as well as shared spirituality and prayer as potential unifying practices.
Holy Trinity Church Maisons Lafitte was also delighted to hold an ecumenical service on Monday evening in conjunction with the local Catholic parish, including Protestant and Baptist communities. Holy Trinity has a 30 year history of ecumenical partnership in the town and current activities include shared support of a soup kitchen along with refugee and housing activities for the vulnerable.
Details of panel guests are: Mgr Etienne Vetö, associate bishop of Reims ; Nicolas Panza, associate pastor of the evangelical church Martin Luther King de Créteil ; Julija Naett-Vidovic, professor at the l’Institut de théologie orthodoxe Saint-Serge de Paris ; et Father Luc Houndakènou, priest in the diocesse of Cotonou au Bénin.
