The chaplaincy in All Saints’ Marseille, France, with Aix-en-Provence and the Luberon joined together earlier last month to take part in a series of ecumenical services held at all four worship locations.
The inter-denominational services helped to deepen the groups strong ecumenical partnerships, and saw the chaplaincy featured on French national TV after they chose Marseille as the location for its weekly Sunday program, Le Jour du Seigneur (The Day of God).
Revd James Johnston, Chaplain of All Saints with Aix-en-Provence and the Luberon, said: “we take part in regular inter-denominational meeting in Marseille to help coordinate the response of churches across the city to the care of migrants and refugees.”
The first segment of Le Jour de Seigneur was focused on Christian denominations across Marseille, and included a report about the chaplaincies work with seafarers in the area as it sits on the second busiest port in the Mediterranean. This was followed by an ecumenical service at the French Orthodox Church.
The full broadcast of Le Jour de Seigneur took place on 22 January and can be viewed for free on the France.TV website.
