La Côte Church welcomes new Reader
La Côte Church, in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, celebrated the licensing of a new Reader on Sunday 29th April. Betty Talbot, a member of La Côte, was licensed by the Archdeacon of Switzerland, Adèle Kelham, at a service enlivened by both Adèle’s sense of humour and the powerful voices of the gospel choir Lift every Voice.
The service took place in the village church of Gingins – about 7 kilometres from Nyon – which is used regularly by La Côte chaplaincy for services.
The licensing service was a blend of liturgical and musical styles, plus hugs for the new reader. It was followed by a large chocolate cake washed down by a choice of tea or Prosecco to celebrate.
The photos show 1) Betty being licensed by Archdeacon Adèle with La Côte’s chaplain Carolyn Cooke assisting, and 2) members of Lift every Voice raising their voices in songs of praise.
