Meet Sonia Diaz-Monsalve, speaker at our Racial Justice conference
We meet one of our speakers at the Racial Justice Conference in November. Sign up now to join us.
“I am Sonia Diaz- Monsalve, a woman, born in one of the poorest municipalities in Colombia and working at international level on Global Health. I have experienced discrimination many times because of my country of origin, my gender and the colour of my skin.
The European international conference on racial justice in Freiburg is a great opportunity to create more awareness about the distress, deaths and sufferings caused to many people around the globe due to their countries of origin, their religion or other characteristics.
In the conference, I will have a double role: Firstly as I have been part of the Anglican church in Freiburg I am part of the local organising committee. I will also be one of the speakers in the panel "The reality of Racial Injustice" presenting my own personal and professional experiences with examples of discrimination.
Professionally, I have a PhD in Public Health dealing with migration challenges. I am part of the Steering Committee of the Global Health Hub on Migration creating awareness for xenophobia and discrimination. I am one of the international coordinators of a 4 years DAAD Academic project in Colombia about Migration and Justice.
I would like to invite people around Europe to attend this conference. You will receive the seed of questioning and struggling for answers but also for possible solutions; the seed will grow and bring fruits nourishing societies with hope and dedication to create a better world together with the blessings from above. Come and join us!”
