Racial Justice follow-up conference, 4-7 December 2024, Germany

Redesigning the Ecumenical and Inter-faith landscape for a Racially Just, Wholistically Healthy and Radically Inclusive Community.

Dear Friends, 

As we have already communicated to you, the Racial Justice Working Group of the Diocese in Europe is organising a follow-up conference on Racial Justice to build on and keep up the momentum of what has already been achieved through the Freiburg Conference of 2023. It will be part of our Continuing Movement and Campaign to Ensure Greater Belonging and Healing. This major event is to be held from December 4-7 2024 at the Evangelische Akademie Bad Boll, Germany, located at the foot of the Swabian Alb. https://et-wue.de/unsere-haeuser/ev-tagungsstaette-bad-boll/

 

We are sure there will be many, including young people, in our Diocese who will want to participate. Partner churches and neighbouring faiths are also being encouraged to send representatives. We now write to ask you to register if you are interested in being part of this initiative and also to identify the right people who would be keen to participate and encourage them to register soon. 

 

This follow-up conference, ALL of us or NONE of Us is taking the Racial Justice agenda further in our ongoing journey From Lament to Action and will be another significant contribution in redesigning the ecumenical and Inter-faith landscape for a racially just, holistically healthy and radically inclusive community.

The conference organising team will include the Diocese in Europe Racial Justice Working Group:

Registration details

Participants at the conference must be aged 18 or over.  However, any younger person can attend with an appropriate/approved chaperone (this information will be shared with the Conference safeguarding team).

Participants must arrange their own visas where needed. The Conference coordinators will be able to provide letters of invitation once your attendance has been confirmed.

The latest date for registration was September 25, 2024.

Conference information

 

Participation

Participants at the conference must be aged 18 or over.  However, any younger person can attend with an appropriate/approved chaperone (this information will be shared with the Conference safeguarding team).

Participants must arrange their own visas where needed. The Conference coordinators will be able to provide letters of invitation once your attendance has been confirmed.

By registering for the conference, participants agree that footage of the conference (Photo, video and/or audio) may be taken, stored and used for legitimate purposes, in particular public relations work and documentation, by the organisers or other participants.  Please alert the conference organisers if you have any objection to this.

 

Food and accomodation

The Conference Fee is Euros 450 which includes 3 nights accommodation on 4,5,6 December

This accommodation will be in the conference venue or nearby. It will be possible to request single or twin occupancy and indicate if you wish to share twin occupancy with another attendee.

Separate arrangements will have to be made if an extension of stay is planned.

Participants may arrange their own accommodation but a contribution/registration fee of 150 Euros per person is required to cover registration and lunches on 5,6,7 December plus coffee/tea expenses during the conference.  Dinner will be an extra charge.

The included meals will be:

Breakfast, Lunch and Coffee on 5, 6, 7 December

Dinner (except drinks) on 4, 5 and 6 December

Please specify any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

 

Burseries

Funds are being sought for bursaries to help participants who are least able to cover their costs.  If you would like to attend but require bursary support to assist you there will be an opportunity to request to be considered for when you register using the downloadable form or online registration.

 

Payment

Please register as soon as possible so that arrangements can be put in place in good time. The latest date for registration is September 25, 2024.

The costs for accommodation and food are 450 Euros. This amount will need to be paid shortly after the Registration is approved to secure the bookings.

Insurance

For participants from outside Germany we recommend to actively ensure that their travel insurances, in particular health, accident and third party liability, cover all potential costs. The organisers’ liability for damage is restricted to intent and gross negligence in exercising their duties.

 

Carol Service 7 December - St. Catherine’s Stuttgart

All the participants are invited to join the Carol Service at St. Catherine’s Stuttgart at 5 pm on Saturday the 7th of December and have a stroll around the famous Christmas Markets of Stuttgart after the same. However, they will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation in Stuttgart if they choose to do so. Extending the stay in the Evangelische Academy in Bad Bol which is a centre of healing and relaxation is also possible for which separate arrangements with the venue would have to be made.
