Platinum Jubilee: What are you doing?
Her Majesty the Queen marks her Platinum Jubilee this weekend, with celebrations set to take place far and wide. Chaplaincies from across the Diocese in Europe are joining the festivities by holding their own Jubilee events - ranging from opportunities to exercise creativity, to coming together to share a special meal. The Chaplaincy in Ibiza and Formentera have invited people to participate in a Jubilee themed art and poetry competition, the entries for which will be displayed at their party on Sunday (5 June).
St George's Church Lisbon and St Paul's Church Estoril are having a Jubilee service on Saturday 4 June, 3pm, with choirs, musicians and readers from four local international schools. Combining musical celebrations with food are Holy Trinity, Corfu, who are raising a toast to Queen Elizabeth, and having an evening of music and meze. Food is possibly the world’s favourite way to mark any special occasion, and the Chaplaincy in Palermo is no exception; they are sharing their favourite dishes on 12 June.
All Saints Church Algarve are also bringing music, food, and fundraising together, with a Jubilee Fete on 4 June. They are raising money for three different charities.
If you are taking part in any of the events of the weekend, giving thanks for the life and service of the Queen, we want to hear from you. Send us your photos, with a short description to communications@europe.anglican.org so that we can share how the Platinum Jubilee was marked across the diocese in our next European Anglicans magazine.
