Safeguarding Leadership Pathway (via Zoom)
Following on from the Basic Awareness and Foundations online courses on the pathway, the Safeguarding Leadership training course is designed for those who play a lead role in shaping the culture of their chaplaincy. It is required for anyone who has safeguarding leadership responsibilities or is responsible for leading activities involving children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
The training comprises a mixture of reading, reflection and preparation work, two Zoom sessions with experienced safeguarding facilitators, plus review and evaluation work. The Zoom sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes but may last up to 2 hours depending on the quality of the discussion. The course explores leadership behaviour, how safeguarding emerges from a healthy church culture, and how to respond effectively to safeguarding concerns. A course workbook is provided to guide participants through the course work with links for further reading. The two zoom sessions are scheduled to take place at the same time, two weeks apart.
Course materials are sent a month before the first session. Participants are required send their responses to the pre-course questions a week before the first session in order to allow the facilitators time to tailor the teaching.
The training sessions for each course are listed below. Course registration opens 90 days before the first session date. Clicking on the link will open the Eventbrite booking system on a new tab; simply enter your name, email address, your chaplaincy role and where you are. If you are having any problems, please contact our Training Coordinator via email who will be happy to help with booking your place on one of our courses. Course bookings are on a first come, first served basis. If a course is full, you may add your name to the waiting list for that course; we will contact you if a space becomes free, though that is dependent on someone else dropping out, so we cannot make any guarantees.
